Sure we have some great tools at our disposal but I for one am never satisfied just sitting on one side of the fence. I'm fascinated by what's going on in other development communities and love getting in touch with friends who live developing Ruby and Objective C and other languages to see what's new in their stables.

Of course I'm not the only one with this desire, Dave Thomas of the pragmatic programmer fame challenged us to learn a new language each year which is a skill I think everyone should have.

I'm planning on presenting an overview of a couple of languages at the .net user group in wellington next month but in the meantime I challenge each of my peers to name one other language they've picked up recently.

My attendance at talks is at an all time low and my blogging is non existent. I'm working on remedying that as much as possible.

As such I've volunteered to help Kirk out running the welllington .net user group and I'll be doing a couple of talks for code camp before tech Ed as usual.

Ill also look to reactivate my blogging but need to think of some topics to cover and find time that isn't taken up by my work for Xero.

As such I'd like to introduce my daughter Sophie now 5 weeks old.

It's an amazing if not a bit hectic change to my life. Let's
See if it helps me get my inspiration back to blog a bit more.
