Wellington Geek Lunch

So today we managed to get the Wellington Geek Lunches off the ground. The enthusiasm was great, hopefully we can convert it into long term stickability*. We're trying to decide on a decent wellington venue for the meetings but we've agreed to try a meeting room next week (if anyone has a suitable, easy access meeting room let me know). I have a worry that meeting rooms will make the group feel too formal but i'm willing to give it a go and see if my fears are founded on any kind of reality.

Once we finished talking about the future format of the Geek Lunches:

We moved onto a discussion about the relative merits of MVP [Model-View-Presenter http://martinfowler.com/eaaDev/ModelViewPresenter.html] and MVC [Model-View-Controller http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Model-view-controller] patterns, swaying through various terminology such as Passive View, Supervising View, data-binding and thin views.

Rather than me rehashing my interpretation of what was said I'm going to set up a wiki for the group so we can all contribute.

The Wiki is here:

Thanks to everyone who turned up.

Owen
