quiet time

Well that’ll be the final bank holiday till Christmas then, although having said that August has been a bit of a crazy, get drunk, dance and sing… a lot, month. Currently suffering from a sore throat, back ache and a generally niggly cough, think it’s gods way of telling me to slow down for a while. Think I’m goanna give up alcohol for a month or two, stick to the water/coke/milk/juice concoction I drink through the day.

Apart from my over zealous approach to my social life, things seem pretty rosy at the moment. Spoke to Andy yesterday for the first time since he went away, which was really cool, he’s definitely been missed. As for work it’s a little slow at the moment, waiting for things to happen so I can be swamped by work, which hopefully will be soon. Or now!!!

Self Searching

It strikes me recently that I don’t really know who I am, I seem to change with everyone I meet. I seem to hold on to very few things rigidly, or have many traits that stay with me (possibly my laziness in room keeping). Take my recent past for example, I seem to have become yet another different person coming up to derby, I’m neater, I get out of bed on time/early which was unheard of a year and a half ago while I was a student. Perhaps it’s growing up, but something tells me it has more to do with the people I am around. I have made some close friends up here, (possibly no one on the personal-share your feelings/rant with- as say Andy or Pete or Emerson or Huw) especially my house mates who I seem miraculously to get on with like a house on fire. It really is cool.

Just wish I knew who I was.

perhaps Andy made me think this! curse you! :)

Weekend

Well at last I have spent the weekend in derby, for the first time since I moved up here. However it turned out to be a somewhat boring event spending the time simply shopping, washing and that’s about it. Oh and finally getting around to watching the simply sublime Lost in Translation, a film that I can now say I adore. The ascetics of the film are constantly interesting as well as the film being very funny. It might not be in my all time favourite film list but it’s one to watch.

Apart from that, the new car is fab and runs like a dream. How nice is it to be able to do the shopping in a car and not have to struggle getting it home!

slightly sore head

Wow, there really is nothing quite like getting steaming drunk, getting home at 2am and then up at 7am for work, I feel great!

Had a fab night last night, it was a little impromptu, got home after having been listening to hed kandi music all day in work and was seriously ready for a bop. Amy suggested we all went out on the razzle dazzle and thus a plan was born. She invited her friends so we had a good posse.

Anyway drinks flowed and music played and as per usual I made a tit of myself on the dance floor. But think I might have ended the night having a date for this evening with one of Amy’s mates, so wonder if she’ll phone.

This is gonna be one slow day.

GET MY NEW CAR AT 5:30!

old school

came across an archive of one of my very first forays into the web, i might of been 14 but i was damn arrogant! check out the tips page (especially the last point) here

man can’t belive anything from back then still exists.

ps. Melandron is a pseudonym i have always used since my days of roleplaying with my mates (think it came from a warhammer quest book)

Who’s that at the door?

Just got a text from my mum saying that the BBC have been in contact saying they want to use the house to shoot part of a new series of a very popular, cult, sci fi tv show. not sure if i can say which, the who project was under such raps, but i’m gonna try and get her to do it. just cos me and my eldest bro were avid fans of the series growing up.

They’re coming across space and time… to penarth!

Blah Blah Blah

Happy Birthday to me.

Finally felt old today, woke up to be greated by 0 cards and 3 bills. Good old bt. but that’s the way life gets i guess.

Back Up

Ah a momentary quiet time, think I spoke too soon in my previous posts about being a quiet time at egg I now seem to have more work than I can fit in, but that’s good as it keeps me from getting bored. However just moving onto a new task so thought I’d take a small amount of time to write a post for my blog, time to talk techie and berate people for their dodgy use of technology.

Had a lot of experience with the idea of backups over the last week or so; got back from Penarth on Sunday after a very enjoyable night out with Bethan for her birthday. Moved all my stuff in and set up my desktop in the living room and my laptop in my bedroom when I realised I needed to get hold of data only held in a backup on my external hard drive, only the problem is I needed to reinstall the backup software to do this, and the key to get the program to install was locked safely away in the backup file!

How can I be such a Muppet, how can I do such a thing that I would berate other users for doing it’s a classic mistake that I should of known better than to do. Still worked out how to get some of the data from the file, enabling me to re-install the backup software and get all my data back, but if the file had been better encrypted I would have been scuppered!

Then on Tuesday I had arranged with Amy, one of my house mates, to go into town and sample some of the night life in Derby. I was really looking forward to this as I can count the amount of times I’ve been out into town on two fingers, and I don’t even have to use the knuckles. However come 9pm and there’s no sign of Amy whatsoever so I had to console myself with watching some TV. Anyway at 10 she finally returns home to tell us that she got stuck in work as a new system update for the software they use had a bug or a virus that wiped all the data in the system, Nice! Then they realised they hadn’t taken backups for about 3 months and so she had to work trying to re-input all the data from the past 3 years or something. This is a classic and I keep trying to explain that it really shouldn’t be her problem, when the new software has such a bug surely it should be covered by a EULA or something?

Anyway life goes on, just.

Got Dave’s wedding this weekend so that should be good, although I really think that I need to spend a weekend in derby soon!
