Fix

Ok it’s taken me like a year, but finally fixed the commenting system so it dosen’t add all those backslashes. Only showed up because andy is the king of punctuation!

Pikea

Been a while since I pointed out the wonders of Weebl and Bob, but the latest series, Pikea, is pure gold.

You can find them in this order
episode 1
episode 2
episode 3

enjoy them all!

Celebrations

A really quick post, just to say a huge well done to my brother, Rob who just learnt that his play has made it into the Royal Court Young Writers Festival 2004. One of only two plays picked out of hundreds apparently, check out the festival here.

and his alter ego here

Man in a pub in Dublin

Ya ya ya ya ya y ay ay a ya y ay ay ay ay ay ya ya yaya ya yay yay yay yay!

Ha ha ha ha. I finally have my laptop back and as you can probably tell it makes me somewhat happy!!!! Currently I’m in Dublin airport waiting for someone on a delayed flight so that we can go into the city and book into our hotel.

Welcome to my new life…. that of jetsetter.

Well for this week any way, all thanks to my new job (Official title Testing Consultant!). Whooo I feel special!

At the moment my life is being run by where abouts the company I work for, Cresta, is able to put me up. Last week it was London in their head office (not a big office as everyone in Cresta is generally a consultant and works on sites around the UK).

At the moment I am looking forward to a week in Dublin working out how to use a tool (read: Program) called Load Runner which is designed to test how well programmes perform under load. Imagine they invented a massive new way of queuing at Newcastle Train Station (somewhere I have had to queue many a time) we would go in and give the system 10000 or a million customers and see how well each one of them got served and how quickly. At least that’s what I think it is.

After all that I have a week in London again and then I should be moving up to Derby for at least 6 months to work alongside Egg. With their new move to Agile Programming, A system to create programs more efficiently and hopefully of better quality, they have had need for a big testing team of which Cresta supplies a part.

Oh my god I’ve just realised I’m starting to get a specialty. SCARY.

Last week it dawned on me that this job may not be as permanent as I had previously thought. Not in that I might not be working for the same company or my job is in doubt, what I mean is previously I thought I would be based somewhere and have that place as a home, but now I realise they have really employed me as a Consultant and I may be expected to travel a fair bit. But hey it’s all cool, as long as I don’t miss Dave’s Wedding!!!!

Anyway just thought I’d do an update while I had some time, plus I have a new shiny version of office so thought id give that a whirl.

Now I’m gonna try something new. I’m gonna see if I can use my laptop and phone to post this entry from the airport. Here Goes!

I don’t think we’re in Kansas any more Toto

Tomorrow I start my new Job and I’m more than a little apprehensive. I really can’t wait, I want to be settled in and working and having a routine.

Over the past two months, the lack of routine is what has bothered me the fact that I could get up when ever I wanted and do pretty much nothing was, in the end, quite detrimental. I liked the fact that over the past two weeks I have had to get up at silly o’clock in the morning because it made me more determined to use my free time well.

Today it is seriously sunny outside, with the curtains open the sun rays shine in and reflect every little speck of dust in the air, as they fly though their loving trajectories. They float across my room on random paths on invisible winds. The air spells great, somehow summer weather always lifts my heart and makes me feel so much better, and at the moment it’s making me feel more and more excited about what the next week or so holds. If only I didn’t suffer from hay fever, my nose has been streaming for the last 3 hours.

Well anyway tonight I get on a train to London, and likely this will be the end of my last extend stay in Cardiff with my parents. Also likely that I won’t be able to post again for a while, although I’ll soon see.

Hope all is well with everyone else.

Extatic

excited is Definately a state i have had a lot of experience with today! suppose i should provide some background info since my last post. cresta, the company i went for an interview with last week, have come through with an offer of a job, and on friday i accepted. so anyway last night i found myself, without too much persuading, in Cardiff and getting somewhat drunk. With hindsight i have to say i was a mess and think that Cardiff is such a dire night out.
Anyway last night i found myself dancing like a lunatic in a very euphoric state.
I am amazed how excited i am over my new found state of employment. For so long I have been very scared, l have never been too sure if i would get a proper job, if i was good enough to make it.
Today my contract came through the post and I read it while traveling up to Newcastle for a house party. l had Chicane on my personal cd player, which seemed really apropriate, and l felt like telling everyone on the train that i had a job.
party has been fab and i hope i can keep this optimism.
